Local Attractions

The Inn's location has something for everyone. The city of Atlanta is just 35 minutes away. Atlanta is a large and vibrant city. It is the hub of the south. It features among many other things The Georgia aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, The World of Coca Cola, The Botantical Gardens and Centennial Olympic Park. The inn itself is located on Allatoona Lake. Lake Point sport complex is about a mile away. The ancient Etowah Indian Mounds and Booth Museum are 15 minutes away. Several state of the art golf courses are within 20 minutes of the inn. The two small towns of Acworth and Cartersville are within 6 miles of the Inn with great shoppping and local dining. There are many battlefields in the area for the Civil War buffs. Directly across from the Inn is Allatoona Pass Battlefield. Kennesaw is the home of the Little General train which is housed in the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive history. Come and enjoy the center of the South.

The lake is managed by the US Army Corp of Engineers. It was originally built for flood control and as a resevoir.The lake is over 12,00 acres in size and has 270 miles of shoreline. It was formed by the building of the  Allatoona Dam on the Etowah River, and has been in operation since 1950. It is one of the top ten most popular recreational lakes in the country.

Allatoona Pass Battlefield
Directly across the street is Allatoona Pass Battlefield which is part of Red Top Mountain State Park. It is now a beauitiful mountain pass walking trail along the lake.Great place for a quick swim.

is a premier sports complex complete with family activities and restaurants as well as baseball, basketball, volleyball, a wakeboard park. It is located just about a mile and a half from the Inn. It is at the Interstate 75 exchange exit #283 in Emerson, GA.

is a family activity complex featuring indoor rock climbing walls, miniature golf, and lazer tag.  Fun for adults and children. There is also a bar and restaurant there. Located by Lakepoint.

Barnsley Gardens is a resort that features beautiful grounds along with golf, horseback riding, shooting and hunting. It also has fine dining, hosts events and has overnight accommodations.

This major Mississippian Period Cultural Center was home to several thousand Native Americans from 1000 to 1500 AD. The largest mound stands over 63 feet high and covers three acres. The impressive archaeological museum interprets life in what is now known as the Etowah Valley Historic District.

See American’s story. A Smithsonian Affiliate Museum, the booth houses the largest collection of Western American Art in the Country. It also features special exhibits and other types of art.

The park is located on Allatoona Lake. It features hiking trails,fishing areas, boat ramps,cabins, picnic areas, group facilities, beaches and a marina. .

Experience the dramatic history of railroads and the War Between the States at the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History. The museum is located in downtown Kennesaw south of us about 12 miles away.

The steeplechase is an incredible day of horse racing while jumping obstacles. This is a fun day for the entire family that occurs every Spring. It is an all day event that also includes music, food, tailgate parties, an air show, a petting zoo and pony rides. Last year there was also the frisbie dog championships and the year before dog racing.
